What is it?

Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses fine, controlled micro-needles to stimulate natural collagen and elastin production.

It improves skin texture and reduces fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation, while enhancing overall firmness and radiance. Suitable for all skin types, microneedling promotes smoother, healthier-looking skin with minimal downtime.

What does it treat?

  • Acne scars
  • Uneven or rough texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Dull skin

How does it work?

A device with fine, sterile needles passes over the skin, creating micro-injuries that the skin repairs by building new collagen and elastin. The channels also help serums applied during treatment reach deeper into the skin.

What happens during treatment?

  1. Your skin is assessed and cleansed.
  2. A numbing cream is applied for comfort.
  3. Your clinician passes the microneedling device over the area, section by section.
  4. A soothing serum or mask is applied, and you receive aftercare advice.

Downtime and recovery

Your skin will look red and feel warm and tight, like mild sunburn, for one to three days. Mild swelling, dryness and light flaking can follow as it heals.

How many sessions?

Collagen builds gradually, so a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart is usually recommended. Your clinician agrees the plan with you, based on your skin and goals.

Aftercare

  • Do not wear make-up for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid the sun and apply SPF every day.
  • Avoid exfoliants, acids and retinoids until your skin has settled.
  • Avoid exercise, saunas and swimming for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Use gentle, hydrating skincare and do not pick at flaking skin.

Who is it suitable for?

Microneedling is not done over active breakouts, infections, cold sores or open wounds, during pregnancy, or within six months of taking isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Tell us if you scar easily or form keloids, have eczema or psoriasis in the area, or take blood-thinning medication.

Combination treatments

Often combined with a course of chemical peels or a tailored skincare routine. A consultation or Face Analyzer scan helps plan your course.

Results timeline

Skin often looks fresher within a week. Collagen keeps building for weeks after each session, so the improvement in scars and texture develops over your course.
