60 minutes

What is it?

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage that works on the lymphatic system rather than the muscles. The lymphatic system keeps the body's fluids in balance and supports normal immune function.

This 60-minute session uses light, wave-like movements to guide lymph fluid towards the lymph nodes, helping to reduce swelling and leaving you feeling lighter and deeply relaxed.

What does it treat?

  • Swelling, puffiness and fluid retention
  • Heavy, tired legs after long periods of sitting or travel
  • Bloating
  • Recovery after cosmetic treatments, with your surgeon's approval
  • Stress and tension

How does it work?

Your therapist uses light pressure and slow, skin-stretching movements that follow the direction of lymph flow, guiding fluid towards the nodes in the neck, collarbone and groin. It is usually done without oil, so the therapist can follow the natural pathways accurately.

What happens during treatment?

  1. We review your health history, symptoms and goals.
  2. You lie comfortably on the treatment bed.
  3. Your therapist works through each area with gentle, rhythmic movements adapted to your comfort.
  4. You rest for a moment and receive aftercare advice.

Downtime and recovery

There is no downtime, and you can return to your day straight away. Some people feel mildly tired or need to pass urine more often afterwards, which soon passes.

How many sessions?

For general wellbeing, a session every few weeks may be enough. For swelling after a procedure, a series of sessions is usually recommended, following the schedule your surgeon or clinician advises.

Aftercare

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • For a day, limit alcohol, caffeine and salty food, which can encourage fluid retention.
  • Keep moving with gentle exercise such as walking or yoga.

Who is it suitable for?

Lymphatic drainage is not suitable for everyone. Tell us before booking if you have an active infection, a history or risk of blood clots, heart or kidney problems, or are recovering from surgery or receiving cancer treatment, as medical clearance may be needed. New or unexplained swelling should be checked by a doctor first.

Combination treatments

Pairs well with body-contouring treatments and with the Smoke & Alcohol Detox IV as part of a wellness plan.

Results timeline

Many people notice less puffiness and a lighter feeling after the first session, lasting several days to a week. Regular sessions help maintain the benefit. Swelling linked to a medical condition may need further care.
